Description

Oil on copper in a giltwood frame. Signed and dated "John & W:m Verelst / Pinx: 1731" centre left.
A enchanting family group of small size painted on copper by the Verelsts, father and son. The work is of almost a miniaturist's quality with a fine touch of detail. Painted on the smooth surface of copper means that the colours, especially the blue of the dress, have an almost luminous quality.
